DIY would save on the delete, and fixing what VW gave you. To me the delete looks more appealing either way. Rawtek's directions don't look to difficult. Steps 16, 19, & 20 might challenge a driveway mechanic. I saw a thread where the DPF was removed through the passenger wheel well, axle removed, easier than the subframe drop.

The DPF: Unplug both the EGR and DPF pressure sensors (the EGR one is protected by a little space blanket). Remove the Torx bolt for each (DPF one is the easily seen black one, the EGR one is a backside one going into the valve cover). Remove the smaller of the two hoses from the EGR sensor (the one on the valve cover).

I believe even bio produces PM, which is the main reason for the DPF.
