209 posts · Joined 2007. #3 · Mar 10, 2007. bolts are higher then studs. Also depends if there 7/16 or 1/2 bolts. Alum heads are usally lower in tourqe because when the engine heats up the alum adds more clamping force. I think its 75 with arp molly lube and 100 wiith oil. try arp.com. Share.

Spec for the SBC is 65-70 ft.lbs with factory bolts.....75 ft.lbs isn't going to hurt anything....but if you want to re-torque, it is a good idea, you will find that the gasket has relaxed some under the compressive force of the head, and you will find some bolts seem looser, usually the longer ...
