The covenant of the inheritor is a nice item but not super critical. I missed it on my first playthrough and got it on my second and didn't really notice an appreciable difference. I guess it would matter more on hard or unfair, but its effects are replicable through items, spells, and other class features not much further into the game. ...Is this thing bugged? You can pick up the magic essences for the Covenant of the Inheritor, but that's not required. Just retake Kenabres. Act 2 you need to convince the Queen to come along with the crusade.
