I've owned them all, and I'm an accuracy freak with handguns. The SW Victory will shoot better groups than the Rugers will. Rugers are tanks for durability, but I quit trying to use them in competition many years ago. They simply can't be counted on to shoot well.

Sent it back to S&W and has shot perfectly ever since. (Repair took 5 weeks) Still was wanting the traditional style Ruger lower, so got the Mark IV Target. So out of those, here's my order of preference. Victory - Because I shoot the most accurate with it. Has the least FTE issues (after being repaired). Had zero issues with a wide range of ammo.

I prefer the Mark III or IV, but not the 22/45 versions. The grip angle feels wrong even though I shoot 1911's often. The standard Mark grip just feels better to me. I've shot the S&W victory before and again I just didn't feel like the grip was comfortable, but that is all subjective to the user.

For the most part I will use it for target shooting and plinking. Right now I’m trying to decide between the Browning Buck Mark and the Ruger Mark IV but am open to other options. There are also a lot of options available including the new Glock .22, Smith and Wesson recently came out with a reliable 22 pistol as well, but they are rather new.
