I think the same numbering scheme was used for the basses. 8Mxxxxxx - 1978. 0000xxxx - 0030xxxx 1978. 0031xxxx - 0047xxxx 1979. 0048xxxx - 0065xxxx 1980.The good news is that a replaced neck doesn't necessarily mean a bad guitar. Attaching those pics would be a huge help for folks to give a more definitive answer. In the meantime, you can try looking up Peavey T-60 serial number dating guides online to see if yours matches a 1980 build.All T-40's have big "T-40" and "Peavey" logos and small "Made in USA" text on the front of the heastock as well as pin-striping around the headstock. Serial numbers are stamped on the rear. A few differences are as follows. 6-digit, 8M and early 8-digit serial numbers. -On front: small "Patents Applied For" text.The serial number label on the bottom of the chasis gives two numbers. The first line reads OHIF-0337. Searching this gives me a 1970s date, which is definitely not correct. The second line is 00583640. Searching this brings up a 1980s date, which is also wrong.

There is nothing on the back apart from a very hard to read serial number. On the front it just says 'Peavey T-60' there's nothing else, no line around the outside, and it feels raised as if it's been applied after manufacture. ... Look for manufacturer date codes on the components -transformers, pots, large caps and resistors, speakers if they're original, etc. If you look on the Peavey forums, they have a list of all the serial numbers and how to read them, after (IIRC) 1977 or so.
