Just guessing, but were all three sets medium height?? I have just enough clearance on my 917V for the bolt to pass the scope using Weaver Grand Slam medium rings and the Marlin supplied Weaver style scope bases, but the bolt would contact the scope just enough to rub a line on the scope, this line could be wiped off though.Marlin Bolt Actions ... Jul 22, 2020 · One being a Marlin 783. Gun has been thoroughly cleaned. Not every time but occasionally, the rifle will fire when closing the bolt. Very dangerous. I wondered if the striker cam pin might be worn or not properly inserted. I have ordered a replacement from Numrich. Visually it does not seem to be worn/damaged. Safety works.
