I recently purchased a Subaru Outback with Eyesight option. The dealership allowed me to drive my car as a demo to my home to confirm that the car would have enough clearance to go up my driveway. While driving to my house I realized that I had lost the Eyesight option and was unable to revive the system.Dealer explained there is a software bug in the 2017 Outback that is causing an erraneous false positive O2 sensor error causing the check engine and eyesight failure. According to the dealer, Subaru is working on a fix which will come as a software update.

I took the car to the dealer and after an initial quote of $1700, I emailed them to provide me with more details. Here is the info they provided:Ok, the eyesight system is disabled when the check engine light comes on for around 60 different causes. Most are related to the throttle control system or the transmission control system. With no outward symptoms, I more suspect that it is in the electronics of the throttle control system.

I noticed a bit of hesitation the last couple of days and, on the way home, the Check Engine and VDC lights came on and the cruise control indicator was flashing. Here we go again.
