My tubs at a ratio of 1:3 colonize in 7-8 days. I use coir/verm/gypsum. It is light and fluffy and colonizes faster than my horse manure/verm/gypsum tubs which take 8-11 days (also 1:3 spawn ratio). It really depends on what you use. I've never used cow manure/straw/verm so I couldn't say for sure.
