The impeller fins are straight when new, but they take a "set" from being bent over in the waterpump housing over time, normal, but not good. The impeller should be replaced every 2 years, or if you don't know it's age.

I have a real nice 15 HP Gamefisher motor, model 225.587151. I purchased a brand new starter { pulley starter} from a Mercury dealer who now carry parts for the Gamefisher. The motor will not crank from the pulley starter. Its so tight that it has broken off two ropes.
