Their point is that you can save much more HP by playing some decent units instead off the 3 extra yordles. Vex, Malz, Poppy, Ziggs plus a TF holding lux items gets you into arcanists nicely, a 2* Darius next to a poppy will tank for days while holding vex/cho/Leona items.
