Also per the SCSW, the model 60 shared an all-numeric s/n series with the Chief Special until 1969, when the R s/n's started.

I have seen no definitive descrpiption of either one other than -7 was two piece barrel and -8 was slab side barrel. Both don't hold true when looking at examples online that appear to be same as a -6. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the 629 will chime in. The model 29 began using a 3 letter prefix in 1983 during production of the 29-3. It can't be a no dash model 29 and have a 3 letter prefix serial number. It also impossible to determine value without knowing the condition. The model 67 was introduced in 1972 at around serial number 2K55997. The full serial number is found on the butt of the grip frame. You will have to remove the grips to see it.

Most likely, your serial number will have a K in it, at the fourth position (like 130Kxxx). If it is a later Model 19-5 (post 1983) it will have three letters and four numeric digits. This revolver has the 2 1/2" barrel and a round butt. They are very much in demand these days and will command a premium on the price. Regards, JP. Very nice model 19. As to value, as was stated it can vary in different regions but $625 would be about the bottom line practically anywhere with a high end value of around $750. The pinned barrel and recessed cylinder make it more desirable than newer ones. A gun shop would offer you $300-400 probably.
