Went out yesterday to check around the marina area and in front of the resort. We have 4″ about 50 ft out then it goes to 2″-3″ very quickly. This side of the lake is locked up with ice.March 28th, 2024. Yes, we still have ice out in front of us. The last storm left us with about 12″-16″ of snow, which compressed to about 10″ on the level. Slush varies from 6”-24” throughout the area. Additionally, snow levels are 20”-30” deep. New cracks are frequently forming and flooding water onto the ice, probably due to the extreme weight of the snowpack. Put houses out on Christmas day and had 3 rented for the weekend. I set up on the north end of walker bay and set houses with wheeler on 12" of ice. 2 of the 3 houses did well with decent numbers of walleyes caught along with some jumbos. Prime times were best but a few fish thru out the day and night as well.
