If you get the car scanned, it should have a history dtc stored. Get the car scanned and get the DTC. Also whining noise has a lot to do with worn gears inside the transmission not making proper contact.The blinking D light disappered for 3 weeks, but came back yesterday. So I went to the dealer today and got the code (P1740) which my earlier attempts (Honda friend and AAMCO) didn't produce. So for $105 the dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty 4th gear switch, just like all the forum members suggested.I got the flashing D while on a road trip in North Dakota. I stopped by a local AutoZone and they were able to pull the code (P1740) for me and it was for a failed 4th gear switch. Not sure why your OBD reader is not picking it up. A Honda dealer in Rushmore South Dakota replaced it for me for about $160. The part alone is about $65Most of the failures that trigger a flashing D WITH a check engine light are internal. - Flashing D WITHOUT a check engine light is *supposed* to diagnose to one of these three cheap and easily serviceable items: 1. 3rd gear pressure switch/circuit. 2. 4th gear pressure switch/circuit.2006 Honda Pilot Flashing D. Dealership told me to buy their $2200 electrical board part. Last year, my 2012 Pilot started showing a blinking D on dash console. Using my code reader, I was able to research the code and found the 3rd Clutch Pressure Switch was the problem. Still a little concerned, I also took it to a Honda dealership and paid the $150 for the diagnostic.A few months ago, the D light on our 2007 Pilot EX-L AWD began flashing. The Pilot has 212K on the odometer. We had our local dealer check it and they told us it was the 3rd gear pressure switch, which validated the research I did on the cause. Since this is a relatively easy repair, I ordered a new pressure switch and installed it on the Pilot.The flashing D light means an intermitent failure in the transmission. When this happens the light will flash until the engine is shut off. If it was intermitent the flashing doesn't come back the failure was intermitent. However this shouldn't lock the gearshift out of the forward gears. That is probably a failure in the shift mechanism.

All the probable transmission problems such as ATF, SWITCH SOLENOID have been checked and certified ok except the TRANSMISSION PRESSURE PUMP that have not been touched. Please can someone help out here.

This came up along with check engine light, power steering, traction control, and tire pressure lights. Car went into limp mode and lost power. Pepboys replaced my throttle body and gas pedal. Did a drain and fill of the tranny fluid using the Honda DW-1 ATF. No more flashing "D". Drives the same.
