The 5.3 are more plentiful and you can still get alot of power by a simple cam swap. Ls1truck.com and lt1swap.com is where I got my info from. Dirty Dingo slider mounts for about $100 is the way to go. LS motor and any trans will bolt together and drop in with no welding. If you can ls swap you can 8.1 swap both of mine are done with ls harness and pcm. You flip outer wires on cam,crank sensors. Move crank sensor wiring to area of cam sensor on ls harness. Move cam sensor circuit to timing cover area, with a striped harness you can do both without the need to extend wires.
