My practiced has been to sync the satellite in the same room as the Orbi so that I can watch both of them as it happens. After the satellite syncs and the Orbi web interface reports "good", then I relocate the satellite to the remote location. Immediately above (or below) the Orbi router is probably not as desirable as being "offset".

plug a cat 5+ cable from LAN port of router to satellite. plug power back into satellite and see if sync sorts itself out. if that doesn't get you going, unplug satellite from power. Factory reset Orbi router. Wait till fully up and configured. Plug satellite power back in and add to Orbi mesh via Orbi web admin.
